Aftercare

We will go over all aftercare instructions with you thoroughly throughout the appointment to ensure you have all the information you need for optimal results. Feel free to browse through our aftercare information here to get an early understanding on what is required from you!

  • On the first night following the procedure, remove your tegaderm/tegaderms around 9pm-10pm. Get into the shower, and just allow the warm water to rinse the tattoo.

When you get out of the shower, towel dry the breast, not the tattoo. Let the tattoo air dry for about 3 minutes (no longer). Make sure the breast skin is dry then apply the new tegaderm/tegaderms.

Do not cut them as they will need to last for a week. Wear the new tegaderm/tegaderms for an entire week. You may shower with the tegaderm/ tegaderms on but please do not submerge.

No bathtubs, pools, hot-tubs, ocean, etc.

On the 6th night you may take your tegaderm/tegaderms off and get into the shower. Please wash your tattoo gently with a gentle soap using your hands. When you get out of the shower, towel dry the breast then sit topless for an hour so that the tattoo can completely dry out.

If you have any scabs still remaining, do not pick them and allow them to fall off on their own.

If the tattoo feels dry and scaly, apply a thin layer of the healing ointment provided.

DO NOT use any lotions with anti-aging ingredients!

If you have any questions you may contact me at 709-689-7722 or shancrot@gmail.com

  • 1) DO NOT PICK! Don't pick or disturb the pigmented area. It's important that if there is any protective scabbing, that it stays on during the healing process until naturally peeling off.

    2) OINTMENT - Use a thin layer of ointment provided 2-3 times/day for the first 5 days. Always apply ointment before bathing or showering. This will help provide a barrier to help prevent fading.

    3) PIGMENTS & HEALING - No soap, shampoo, cleansers, or cosmetics on the pigmentation site for the first 5-7 days. No sauna’s, steam rooms and baths, hot yoga, or anything that causes excessive sweating for at least 5-7 days. No swimming in chlorinated pools for 2 weeks. No direct sun or sun tanning beds for 6 weeks. 25% - 40% of the pigment may fade off during the first several weeks of healing. Area may appear to be healed, but camouflage can take 2 - 10 months to heal (longer if skin is darker). If you are unsure of healing status please text pictures to 709-689-7722 to avoid booking unnecessary appointments. *DO NOT throw out your aftercare as you will need it again after your follow up*

    4) TEGADERM BANDAGES - If you have a Tegaderm bandage on the area, you can safely leave this bandage on for a week. No water activities (such as swimming, excessive sweating, saunas, etc.) wearing Tegaderm bandages. Showers are ok!

    5) CICAPLAST CREAM - When using cicaplast (a silicone cream), a deep massage of the product on the affected area is the most beneficial. Start the massaging of this product after the 5-7 day mark. Use in the morning and night until the product is empty.

    6) SWELLING - Although rare, excessive swelling or an allergic reaction may occur. If excessive swelling occurs, you should consult your doctor. If any allergic reaction causes difficulty breathing and/or swelling, call 911 or go to the Emergency room immediately. *Please contact Shannon when you are able so this important note can be added to your file.

    7) SPF / SPA TREATMENTS - Once healed, use SPF products on the treated area(s), as it will help prevent colour from fading. Be careful when having peels, microdermabrasion, laser, or using anti-aging creams on camouflaged area, as these may contribute to fading.

  • 1) NO MAKEUP for 24 hours

    2) MOISTURIZE - Use a thin layer of the ointment provided 2-3 times/day for the first 5-7 days. You may also use your own moisturizing cream as long as it is 'neutral' with no anti-aging/ acidic properties.

    4) AVOID direct sun exposure FOR ONE WEEK - Your skin will be sensitive for the first couple of days, but vulnerable to burning for the first week, so avoid tanning beds and direct sun exposure for the first week if possible. Always use SPF!!

    6) REDNESS and SWELLING - Redness and swelling is to be expected, but generally dissipates within two to 24 hours

    2) AVOID direct sun/ UV exposure

    3) DO NOT pick at or peel drying/ flaking skin once the area starts to heal. Let them naturally exfoliate. The healing ointment provided will help lessen the irritation and potential dryness.
