Facial scarring

Facial scars, whether from acne, injury, or surgery, can significantly impact self-confidence. Medical/paramedical micropigmentation offers a refined solution to minimize their visibility and restore a smoother, more even complexion.

Understanding the Challenge:

Facial scars can vary greatly in depth, texture, and colour, from pitted acne scars to surgical incisions.

The Solution:

My approach to facial scarring is subtle and highly individualized:

  1. Pigment Matching for Discolouration: For scars that are hyper-pigmented (darker) or hypo-pigmented (lighter) than the surrounding skin, I use custom-blended pigments to neutralize the discolouration and blend them seamlessly.
  2. Softening Edges: Similar to other scar types, harsh edges of facial scars can be softened to make them less conspicuous, often using ISR.
  3. Illusion of Smoothness for Acne Scars: While micropigmentation cannot fill deep pitted scars, it can significantly improve their appearance by minimizing shadowing and creating a more uniform skin tone around them, making them appear shallower.
  4. Combination Therapies (if applicable): For many types of acne scarring, I may suggest a combination approach with other treatments like ISR site-specific microneedling to optimize textural improvement and softening of deeply pitted (or raised) scars before any micropigmentation.
